Helmed by SpaceX, Elon Musk’s Starlink has been all over the news for all the right reasons these past few years.
Just to quickly brief about Starlink Internet for those of my readers who are not completely in the loop with this,
Operated by SpaceX, Starlink is an ISP. They provide internet for people via satellite instead of the conventional optic-fibre method. Elon Musk’s Starlink aims to ensure internet coverage worldwide, even in the most underprivileged areas.

How about we get straight to the point and get to today’s discussion?
“The Starlink App.”
My dear reader, just as important as a remote is to your TV, equally (if not more) important is a Starlink app for Starlink internet users.
Regular users of Starlink internet will certainly agree with me on this.
I do acknowledge the fact that many might find it confusing regarding how this entire trajectory works.
Well, not anymore, as we will run you through the app today here as well as provide pivotal information regarding it.
Do note that if you are to make the most out of your Starlink internet, it is highly imperative you know your way through the Starlink App.

Once you find it, just download it.

What’s next after downloading the Starlink App?
Now that you are done downloading the app, it is time for you to log in.
You will have to set up your account, which I believe you can do yourself easily. Thus, I won’t waste your time by mentioning it.
It is mentionable that you can also use the browser instead of the app, although the app is simply much more convenient and user-friendly.
Starlink App’s Minimalism:
Upon opening the Starlink App, its simple and minimalistic approach to design is genuinely very pleasant to the eyes.
They have attempted to make the interface simple and user-friendly.
In my opinion, they have certainly succeeded at it. It has been designed in an easy to comprehend manner with unambiguous navigation buttons.
Main Menu of the Starlink App:
In this segment, let me give you a quick walk-through of the Starlink App to help you learn about each feature.
Aiming to save you time, I will keep it concise.
The Connection Indicator:
Right at the top of the menu, you will notice a 3D model image of a router and the satellite dish.
When your connection will stay active, you will always see a beam of light in this 3D image. But in case you lose connection, it will go dark.
Thus, the 3D image will actually work as a connection indicator for you. It will help you identify whether your connection is active or not.
Profile Manager:
Have you noticed that human-like icon at the top right corner of your main menu?
If not, why don’t you go have a quick look?
This icon represents your profile; by clicking on it, you will get your account information.
Surfing through this part along with reviewing your account, you will be checking out other major aspects, such as your current plan and texts from Starlink.
You can even order accessories from the shop through this.
Statistics Measure:
First up in the menu, you will see “Statistics,” represented by a graph icon.
By entering it, you will be able to track and measure various aspects of your internet connection. Primarily they are:
- Uptime
- Latency
- Throughput
Uptime gauges the dependability of your internet from time to time. The more the uptime, the better for you.
Next, latency indicates the response time of your device. In this case, the lower the better.
Lastly, throughput simply provides you with an idea about your internet’s speed. Higher throughput will mean that your internet is fast.
Network:
Up next in the menu, you will come across the “Network” portion.
This will help you identify the number of devices that are currently connected to your internet. It will also show you the ones that have been connected before.
You will also be able to see the information about the devices and thus even figure out who is using your Starlink internet.
Very useful, isn’t it?
Obstructions:
If you are a regular reader here at Netizen Pulse, you must certainly remember we have addressed this aspect before. If you are new here, you don’t need to feel left out.
Click here to know what I am talking about!
For the smooth functioning of your Starlink internet, the dish needs a clear view of the sky.
If there is any obstruction or anything that comes in between them, it could hamper the smooth relay of the signal from the satellite to your device.
As a result, you certainly always will have to be aware of whether there is any obstruction or not, which could keep you away from enjoying a smooth internet.
This is where the “Obstruction” part in the Starlink App comes in.
Through it, you will be able to determine if or not there are any obstructions.
A blue shade will indicate a clear view, whereas red will indicate obstructions.
That’s not all. You will also be able to check where exactly the obstruction is.
I have to say this: great job by Starlink focusing on such minor details.
. Really fascinating!
Speed Test:
Well, the name is pretty self-explanatory, isn’t it?
With the help of the Speed Test, you will be able to check the speed of your Starlink internet at any given moment.
You can check your download speed, upload speed, as well as latency.
On top of that, you will also come across an advanced test option.
It measures the speed between your device and the router and afterward that of the router with the primary internet through Starlink.
Settings:
As the name suggests, through this you will be able to toggle between your router settings.
You could go and carry out various functions, such as changing your WiFi password, rebooting your device, doing a factory reset, stowing, customizing your DNS, etc.
What does Stowing mean?
By stowing your Starlink, your dish will get disconnected from the satellites and revert the positioning mechanism back to default.
Other features, such as content filtering and scheduling sleep for the device, are also included.
When you go through it by yourself, you will easily understand these included functions.
Support:
Why fear when Starlink is here?
This sentence pretty much sums up the function of this part.
In this section, you will find compiled FAQs.
You will also be able to try contacting the Starlink Support. To do it, you have to click on the “Thumbs Down” icon.
Advanced Settings:
Last but not least, at the bottom we will come across “Advanced Settings.”
Through this section, we will be able to install and link a second Sarlink kit. Although this might result in a “Reset” thus you better be careful.
There is also another option here titled “Debug Data.”.
It is simply a dump of all information regarding your devices and network, comprising all major details that concern you.
Concluding Thoughts:
It sure was a long but fruitful discussion.
I hope you agree too (fingers crossed).
As we have learned, the Starlink App is an all-in-one app for weaponizing us with all the necessary tools to make the most out of our Starlink internet and efficiently use it.
