Spectrum is one of the largest ISPs in the United States, but available in 32 US states. They have a solid market in the US’s Southern, Midwest, and Northeast regions. Despite being an industry leader, you cannot access Spectrum in rural areas.
The good thing about Starlink is its availability in remote areas where infrastructure development could be better. They have a broader footprint in all the states of the US and are available in 33 other countries, such as the UK, Canada, Australia, etc. You can access Starlink internet in highly populated areas, too.
Reliability
Both ISPs offer reliable performance regardless of weather conditions and area congestion. However, I found Spectrum more reliable than Starlink.
Spectrum has little downtime, and it happens when a heavy thunderstorm is in your area. Other than this, you will always find rock-solid performances. They are well-established and committed to providing error-free internet to their customers using the latest technology.
On the other hand, Starlink is also known for good reliability if you don’t consider the drops that last less than 30 seconds. If you count those drops, you will find their service less reliable.
Internet Speed
Most users prefer internet speed over other features of an ISP. Spectrum outranked Starlink in almost every aspect of speed. The primary reason is that Spectrum provides internet through cable across the United States.

The advertised download speed for Spectrum is 300 Mbps, while users claimed they experienced 390-305 Mbps. Moreover, the advertised upload speed is 10 Mbps, and users get 9 Mbps to 12 Mbps. Such data shows that they provide consistent speed.
Whereas Starlink’s download and upload speeds are 30-110 Mbps and 5-20 Mbps, respectively. In addition, their internet speed tends to slow during peak hours between 7 PM and 11 PM local time.
Ping & Latency
Users expect a low ping and latency period as nobody wants to wait for a longer response after a data request. Spectrum wins the hearts of many customers for its low ping and latency.
Generally, Spectrum has a lower latency period of 30 ms or less while ensuring better stability. This range is similar to other standard cable options. If you need an internet connection for VoIP, Zoom, and other latency-sensitive applications, go with the company.
